A new article in The Ringer surveys the peaks and valleys in the career of Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen. One of the best receivers in the game, the 25-year-old will head to his first Pro Bowl this winter and has already experienced a novel’s worth of drama. After becoming a star potential first rounder at Cal, Allen ran an unusually slow 40-yard dash thanks to an ailing knee at the NFL Combine, a misstep that dropped him to the third round and eliminated most of the prestige around his name. After proving himself in his first three seasons as a major offensive threat, Allen missed 15 of 16 games in 2016 with a torn ACL. In 2017, Allen, who ranks fourth in the NFL in receiving yards, is finally putting together a stunning campaign.
