SOCIAL MEDIA LEAD (New York, NY)

InsideHook is looking for an Social Media Lead to develop new and innovative marketing campaigns and strategies that focus on long-term unique visitor growth.

Reporting to the Director and Head of Audience Development, this position is responsible for management and execution of marketing campaigns across all social media channels necessary to increase audience size, quality, and engagement of the InsideHook brand and its associated products and services. Working closely with the Branded Entertainment team, the Social Media Lead, is also responsible for managing and executing paid distribution of branded content (written, video, social) for brand partners.

Other duties include assisting the Audience Development team on the development of paid search, SEO, and email marketing strategies that deliver on set departmental goals, increase user engagement and contribute directly to the overall growth, richness and health of the audience database.

The ideal candidate will be passionate and dynamic, with a strong analytical background and a track record of driving results across social media channels.

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and options package commensurate with experience, plus health benefits and paid time off.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the day-to-day management of organic, earned, and paid lead generation and brand-sponsored campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn
  • Identify, build, and target key audience segments that drives user acquisition, engagement, and long-term retention
  • Curate content, photography, videography, and illustrations to create engaging experiences on all relevant social media platforms
  • Execute creative and copy optimization (A/B tests) within organic and paid social posts, including branded content
  • Manage budget, placement and analysis of all paid social channels for acquisition/audience development campaigns through the use of CPA, CPC, and CPM buying methods
  • Serve as a social media platform expert — bring industry trends, innovative ideas, and fresh ways to the InsideHook team, and ultimately to our audience
  • Execute social amplification reporting and campaign insight requests for Branded Entertainment team on a weekly basis and/or ad-hoc basis
  • Assist the Director of Partnerships on email subscriber acquisition programs (paid and organic) to drive the growth and engagement of six InsideHook email editions

Requirements:

  • 2 - 4 years professional experience working in social media at a brand, publisher, agency, or similar company
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Proven track record of managing and executing campaigns using native platform tools such as Facebook Ads Manager/Power Editor, Google AdWords, Twitter Ads
  • Working knowledge of SEO, paid social tactics, bidding & optimization models, 3rd-party tracking, audience targeting, and ad formats
  • Background in creating narrative, multi-platform content experiences
  • Record of leading projects, campaigns, and brand experiences with measurable results
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to comfortably translate large data sets into actionable takeaways and insights
  • Strong data management and manipulation skills – advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Google Analytics, and other analytics/analysis tools such as Parse.ly
  • Up-to-date on your trends in design, digital content, and technology.

DEPUTY EDITOR (New York, NY)

InsideHook is currently looking for a full-time Deputy Editor to join our growing content team.

The Deputy Editor will work closely with the Editor in Chief to: 1) establish and maintain InsideHook’s voice across all publishing platforms, and; 2) manage the internal workflow between departments (tech, art, ad/ops) w/r/t all published materials, from InsideHook’s six email products, to web features and news stories, to branded content campaigns, to display copy across all social media channels.

The ideal candidate will have experience recruiting and managing freelance talent, as well as pitching, writing and editing short- and longform content across a variety of men’s lifestyle topics, including but not limited to: food and drink, domestic and international travel, automobiles, consumer technology, sex and dating, pop culture, outdoor gear, style and grooming, nightlife, health and fitness, and home design. In-depth knowledge of the regions tied to our four local editions (New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago) is also a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage editorial projects small and large, from ideation to execution to distribution
  • Assign, top-edit and proofread daily news stories across all verticals, ensuring that InsideHook’s unique perspective and voice are evident throughout
  • Pitch and write 4-5 editorial features per month, as well as daily news coverage as needed
  • Analyze relevant metrics and report on results thereof, ensuring a data-driven approach to improving on-site traffic, email sign-ups, and engagement across all distribution platforms (email, social, news aggregators, etc.)
  • Assist Editor in Chief in top-editing and proofreading all copy for daily emails and longer InsideHook features
  • Work with Editor in Chief to manage freelance editors to program a robust, topically relevant editorial calendar both on the website and across our six email properties
  • Provide constructive feedback at every stage of the editorial process to ensure not only compelling, clean narratives and copy, but also to help junior staff members grow as writers, curators and editors
  • Maintain House Style guide and communicate changes/guidelines to the editorial team as needed
  • Manage all editorial operations and workflows in the Editor in Chief’s absence

Requirements

  • At least 5 years experience working in a fast-paced, adaptable editorial environment
  • A passion for creating content and helping our readers live fuller lives
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • A deep interest in men’s lifestyle topics, especially w/r/t to product and experiential recommendations
  • A proven track record for writing compelling, smart display copy for web and social — appealing to both humans and bots
  • The ability to shepherd many formats of web-based narrative (shortform, longform, captions, ad copy, graphics) from ideation to publish
  • Experience recruiting and managing freelance writers
  • Working knowledge of CMS tools (Wordpress or similar), Google Suite and analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Parse.ly)
  • Working knowledge of email management platforms (Sailthru, MailChimp) and Photoshop/Adobe Suite not required, though a definite plus

AD OPERATIONS MANAGER (New York, NY)

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Traffic advertising across all of our platforms
  • Assist the Sales and Branded Entertainment teams in building and revising media plans
