CREATIVE SERVICES MANAGER (New York, NY)

lnsideHook is looking for a Creative Services Manager who specializes in the development and creation of sales-marketing materials to join our growing team. This is a full-time, salaried position with generous benefits.

Overview: The Creative Services Manager will be a vital member of our Branded Entertainment team, facilitating pre-sale proposal ideation and creation, with the goal of building partnerships and growing revenue across InsideHook’s email, web and social platforms. They will work closely and cross-functionally with the Creative Director and the Sales, Affiliate Partnership and Design teams; the position reports to the Director of Branded Entertainment.

Roles & Responsibilities: 

  1. Respond to incoming RFPs and craft proactive proposals that meet advertiser needs/goals in conjunction with the Director of Branded Entertainment, Creative Director and Sales team
  2. Participate in the pitch development process for proposals including ideating, writing and pricing strategy
  3. Spearhead the creation of all sales-marketing presentations, RFP decks and sales collateral
  4. Partner with the Audience Development team to ensure that InsideHook’s business metrics — audience engagement, acquisition, etc. — are up-to-date and accurately detail the state of our brand both internally and externally
  5. Extract relevant InsideHook audience demographic and behavioral information for proposals based on the key RFP target demographics of InsideHook’s clients and agency partners
  6. Collaborate with the Design team to maintain a cohesive visual language across sales-marketing materials, reflective of the InsideHook website and digital O&O.
  7. Assist with ideation and proposal deck creation for Affiliate partnerships on a case-by-case basis
  8. Manage projects for Branded and Sales teams on an ad hoc basis, including client events and premiums for key clients and industry leaders
  9. Participate in productions on occasion, including branded video and photo shoots and sponsored events

Qualifications:

  1. A passion for digital media. You’re the kind of person who consumes content and experiences across a variety of platforms and subject matter on a daily basis
  2. 2+ years of digital integrated marketing experience
  3. Exceptional verbal, writing and presentation skills
  4. Quick-learner and self-starter comfortable working under tight deadlines
  5. Attention to detail and an entrepreneurial spirit
  6. Proven experience with visual design and deck creation programs, including InDesign, PowerPoint and Keynote
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  8. Ability to balance individual accountability and a collaborative spirit in pursuit of company goals
  9. A desire to help chart the future of digital media and advertising

EMAIL MARKETING MANAGER (New York, NY)

InsideHook is seeking an Email Marketing Manager to implement strategies for audience growth and retention within the email channel. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus health benefits and paid time off.

Overview: The Email Marketing Manager is a critical part of the Audience Development team. The Manager is responsible for the growth, engagement, health and delivery of InsideHook’s nine newsletters. The ideal candidate will have a keen understanding of digital audiences, InsideHook’s value proposition, differentiation and voice. They will have a deep understanding of what drives users to engage with content, how to convert readers into subscribers, and how our organization can best serve our audience using data. They should have an eye for discerning creative and strong copy, be familiar with HTML/CSS coding and the ability to analyze data and deliver actionable insights from that analysis. The position reports to the Head of Audience Development.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. In partnership with the Head of Audience Development, execute strategy to grow InsideHook email subscribers and improve retention by engaging audiences with personalized, targeted and relevant marketing communications.
  2. Work cross-functionally with InsideHook’s editorial, social, sales, creative and engineering stakeholders to design and build relevant, fun and engaging products and experiences for our customers and VIP subscribers.
  3. Grow high-quality subscribers by managing partner outreach, vendor relationships, our referral program, barter calendars, sweepstakes promotions, on-site placements, overlays, and additional tactics.
  4. Manage the daily setup of email campaigns, content and message optimization, use of personalization tools, list segmentation, list hygiene, deployment and reporting.
  5. Conduct A/B testing including subject lines, email copy, layouts and CTAs that improve conversion. Manage a structured and documented testing plan to continually improve performance.
  6. Lead onboarding and re-engagement efforts, as well as InsideHook’s referral program, to increase user retention.  
  7. Analyze and iterate upon all reader-facing communications to optimize results. Do the same with key business metrics such as open rates, conversions, and lifetime value.
  8. We are looking for someone who can:
    • Obsess over staying at the forefront of the industry in everything from deliverability and privacy changes, to subject line best practices and best-in-class creative approaches.
    • Continually educate and challenge your colleagues; present ideas on how to grow subscriber lists and maximize messaging to better engage readers. 
    • Develop business cases for new initiatives/projects that support program growth or enhance the customer experience and oversee project through to completion.
    • Research motivations and understand customer sentiment to inform development of lifecycle campaigns, including win-back campaigns.

Requirements:

  1. Past experience with proven results in email marketing
  2. Experience using an email service provider; Sailthru a major plus
  3. Knowledge of and proven success in deploying email best practices, deliverability, and CAN-SPAM/anti-spam/privacy laws
  4. Solid knowledge of HTML/CSS coding for emails and familiarity with responsive design best practices
  5. Strong, adaptable writing skills. Experience writing engaging copy for email and/or marketing materials
  6. High energy, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  7. Great team player; but you can also ride solo when needed
  8. Be cool and collaborative. Culture is very important to us
  9. Bachelor’s degree required

EDITORIAL FELLOWSHIP (New York, NY))

Our paid fellowship program is based in New York City, and gives aspiring digital media professionals the chance to work in our newsroom alongside our full-time editorial staff in all phases of the editorial process.

This is an opportunity to work directly with our editors and executive team. The role will be fluid and fast-paced, ranging from nitty-gritty research, production, photo-editing and analytics work, to writing and reporting pieces and contributing to our long-term strategy. The ideal candidate is a great writer, team player and sleeve-roller-upper.

Responsibilities:

  1. Pitch and write short news stories
  2. Pitch and write occasional editorial features
  3. Contribute to editorial planning and strategy process
  4. Collaborate with our editorial team and freelancers to produce, copy edit and fact check feature-length editorial content
  5. Edit, cut and upload photos to our CMS
  6. Use our various analytics platforms (Parse.ly, SailThru) to generate reports for the editorial team

Qualifications:

  1. Applicants must have experience writing and reporting, preferably for a digital or print publication with an emphasis on lifestyle (travel, food and drink, style and grooming, health and fitness, pop culture, etc.)
  2. Working knowledge of CMS tools (WordPress or similar), Google Suite and Photoshop
  3. Enthusiasm, reliability and a team-oriented attitude
  4. Quick learner and self-starter comfortable with rapid change. Ability to stay organized, balance priorities and work well under pressure.
  5. A sense of humor
  6. Helpful: Experience with HTML, photography, the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign)
  7. Bachelor’s degree required
