Art Fellow

Responsibilities:

InsideHook is looking for talented young designers to join our dynamic team. Our paid Graphic Design Fellowship is based in Manhattan and offers aspiring graphic design professionals the opportunity to work closely with our Art Department on a range of exciting projects. The internship will be 3 months and may be extended based on performance and availability.

Overview:

Your dream is to create stunning visual content and get paid for it. If you’d be thrilled to gain hands-on experience in a creative agency environment, then you could be the next Graphic Design Fellow at InsideHook. This role offers the chance to work directly with our design team and executive staff, contributing to projects that span digital and print media. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, highly creative, and ready to tackle a variety of design challenges.

You Will:

Collaborate with team members to develop engaging and professional decks/presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Assist in designing visually appealing graphics for digital and print media, including social media content, website visuals, brochures, flyers, and posters.
Ensure all designs adhere to company branding guidelines, maintaining a cohesive look and feel across all materials.
Work closely with the design team and other departments to brainstorm and develop creative concepts for various campaigns and projects.
Help manage design projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality output.
Conduct research on design trends, industry standards, and competitor analysis to keep our designs fresh and innovative.
Accept and incorporate feedback from team members and stakeholders to refine and improve designs.
Organize and maintain design files, assets, and project documentation.

You Have:

Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and presentation tools like PowerPoint or Keynote.
Strong understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Creative mindset with attention to detail and a strong sense of aesthetics.
Experience with motion graphics and video editing is a plus.
Knowledge and experience with motion graphics and video editing software.
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and basic web design principles.
Ability to commute to the New York office 3 times a week.

NYC Pay Range – $16 per hour

Editorial Fellow

Responsibilities

InsideHook is looking for talented young writers and editors to join our rapidly growing team. Our paid fellowship program is based in New York City and gives aspiring digital media professionals the chance to work in our newsroom alongside our full-time editorial staff in all phases of the editorial process. The fellowship will be 3 months long, beginning at the end of August 2024, and will be based on a hybrid schedule out of our Midtown NYC office. The fellowship may be extended based on performance and the fellow’s availability.

Overview

If your dream is to write things and get paid for it, then you could be the next Editorial Fellow for InsideHook.

This is an opportunity to work directly with our editors and executive team. The role will be fluid and fast-paced, ranging from nitty-gritty research, production and photo-editing, to writing and reporting pieces and contributing to our long-term strategy.

You Will:

Pitch and write short news stories
Collaborate with our editorial team and freelancers to produce, copy edit and fact check feature-length editorial content, including for our sister publication, Wondercade (a partnership with the actor Neil Patrick Harris).
Build stories for publication in our CMS
Pitch and write occasional editorial features
Maintain the editorial calendar
Contribute to editorial planning and strategy process

Qualifications

You Have:

Experience writing and reporting, preferably for a digital or print publication with an emphasis on lifestyle (travel, food and drink, sports, style and grooming, health and fitness, pop culture, etc.)
Working knowledge of CMS tools (WordPress or similar) and Google Suite
Enthusiasm, reliability and a team-oriented attitude
Ability to commute to the NYC office 2-3x a week

Preferred:

Experience with HTML, photography, the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign)
