Frontman of the British electronic group The Prodigy, Keith Flint, was found dead at his home on Monday. He was 49-years-old.

Flint died of an apparent suicide, according to his bandmate, Liam Howlett, who confirmed the news on Instagram.

“The news is true, I can’t believe I’m saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend,” Howlett wrote on the group’s official account. “I’m shell shocked, f*ckin angry , confused and heart broken,” he added.

Police had earlier confirmed that a 49-year-old man was found unresponsive at his house in Essex, England, on Monday morning, CNN reported. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Flint was known by his trademark double mohawks, tattoos and erratic performances. The band’s hits like “Firestarter” and “Breathe” along with Flint’s vocals and stage presence propelled the band into commercial success in both Europe and the U.S. during the 1990s.

The Prodigy has six number one studio albums in the U.K. and one in the States. The group’s last album, “No Tourists,” was released in November ahead of its announcement that the band would be touring festivals in Europe and South America this year.

“It is with deepest shock and sadness that we can confirm the death of our brother and best friend Keith Flint,” the band wrote in a separate Twitter post. “A true pioneer, innovator and legend. He will be forever missed. We thank you for respecting the privacy of all concerned at this time.”
