The winter storm that brought feet of snow to the Midwest moved into the Northeast over the weekend, sinking entire states into a deep freeze — including the waters of Niagara Falls.
Visitors to the falls snapped pictures to share on social media of the awe-inspiring power of the cold system that was able to bring parts of the gushing waterway to a halt on Sunday, CNN reported.
One tourist told the news network that she felt like she was in “Elsa’s castle,” a reference to the wintery Disney smash hit, Frozen.
“There was even this set of stairs that were placed just outside the look-on spot and they had so much ice on them, it looked like Elsa had just cast her arm out and summoned up some stairs like she does in the movie,” she said.
Temperatures were still well below freezing Tuesday morning as parts of the Tri-State Area and New England kicked off their morning with temperatures ranging from 20 degrees below zero and just 15 degrees above.
