Patagonia Just Launched an Online Marketplace for Used and Vintage Gear

Massive discounts incoming

Patagonia is a brand that’s proven, time and time again, it’s dedicated to responsible innovation. As it turns out, the outdoor retailer  has some fresh takes about their old ideas, too.

Originally an initiative available only at Patagonia’s brick-and-mortar locations, the label’s Worn Wear program has just expanded in scope to include a dedicated online store.

Filled with used items sold at massive discounts, the Worn Wear marketplace classifies its recycled products as Excellent (like new), Great (small signs of wear) or Good (some visible use scars), and prices them accordingly.

With an inventory made up of traded-in items that have been repaired, the shop provides a way for loyal Patagonia customers to get store credit for their old items as well as open up avenues for new shoppers to get substantial bang for fewer — sometimes more than $100 less — bucks.

Note: If you’re trading in, expect to get a credit value of half of Patagonia’s new sales price.

“The global apparel market is worth $3 trillion, but the low cost of manufacturing and the drive for profits above all else has driven many companies to offer cheap, throwaway clothing rather than build high-quality gear built to last,” a company spokesperson told Hatch. “Worn Wear seeks to help reverse this trend by highlighting the value of investing in high-quality products, providing the tools required for long-term ownership and by providing a platform for resale.”

If you’d like to shop responsibly, head on over to the Worn Wear shop to get started.
