Gov. Chris Christie Caught on Video Confronting Chicago Cubs Fan
The encounter occurred at Miller Park in Milwaukee this past weekend.
A tense confrontation between Gov. Chris Christie and a Chicago Cubs fan was captured on video during Sunday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers, ABC News is reporting. The New Jersey governor was seen intimidating a fan, identified as Brad Joseph, who shouted at Christie while he was walking up the park steps.
“He was already quite a bit past me, and 30 feet away — I yelled his name and told him that he sucked,” Joseph told a local ABC affiliate.
When Christie returned, carrying concessions, Joseph called him a “hypocrite.”
“I called him a hypocrite because I thought it needed to be said. He then turned around and walked all the way back toward me and got up in my face for what seemed like a long time, but was probably only about 30 seconds,” Joseph said. Christie yelled at Joseph, asking him, “Why don’t you have another beer,” according to Joseph. “Then, he started calling me a tough guy.”
Joseph said he felt right in calling Christie out because he’s an elected official.
“This is America and I think we have the right to say what you believe as long as it’s not crude or profane,” Joseph said. Take a look at the clip below.
