At 4-19, the Golden State Warriors are dead last in the entire NBA, lower on the totem pole than the perennial cellar-dweller New York Knicks.

With stars Steph Curry and Klay Thompson out with long-term injuries and supporting players Draymond Green and D’Angelo Russell in and out of the lineup with ailments of their own, the Warriors have lost four games in a row and seven out of their last eight.

Thing is, the more the Warriors lose, the more terrifying they become.

At least that’s the way some other teams in the NBA feel, according to NBC Sports NBA Insider Tom Haberstroh.

That’s because if the Warriors continue to lose at this pace, which it seems like they will as neither Curry nor Thompson are expected to return anytime soon if they come back at all, the team will have a good shot at landing a top pick in this year’s draft.

If they do, Golden State will have the option of adding a top prospect to their core of Curry, Thompson, Green and Russell or trading the pick to bring back an established talent.

“The people I talk to around the league are really worried they are going to trade that first-round pick, the 2020 pick, because if they load up with an All-Star-type player with that pick, they are terrified,” Haberstroh said Wednesday. “Or if they land a Luka Doncic in the draft, they’re terrified.”

The NBA is also apparently terrified of the ratings the new-look Warriors will bring in as the league has already moved two December Golden State games out of primetime.

The Warriors were scheduled to play on ESPN against Utah on December 13 and against Portland on December 18 but both games have already been replaced.
