On Monday, the longest-serving Hispanic member of the United States Senate ripped into President Trump for an apparent pattern of racism on the Commander in Chief’s home turf: Twitter.
Sen. Robert Menendez used Trump’s attack on LeBron James following the NBA star’s appearance on CNN as a jumping off point to call attention to how Trump views minorities.
After James was on CNN and said Trump used sports to divide people, the president wrote:
Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!

Sen. Menendez directly addressed that comment with his first tweet on Monday night.

Menendez then sent out a thread of tweets that included references to Trump’s comments about Mexican immigrants while campaigning, his continued attacks on President Obama, his response to what happened in Charlottesville, and many more instances of apparent racism.
Menendez concluded:
Our President’s history on this issue is heartbreaking, maddening, and disgusting. But my commitment to racial justice will never waiver, and I urge my colleagues to stand strong as well.

James has yet to respond to Menendez or Trump at this point.
