Kurt Warner Getting ‘Serious Consideration’ As Jon Gruden’s ‘MNF’ Replacement

ESPN is taking a long look at hiring the Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

Brett Favre’s loss could be another Super Bowl-winning quarterback’s gain.

In the wake of ESPN reportedly souring on hiring Favre as Jon Gruden’s replacement on “Monday Night Football,” Kurt Warner has emerged as a leading candidate for the position.

A person with knowledge of the discussions told USA TODAY Sports said Warner is getting “serious consideration” for the vacant position beside confirmed play-by-play man Joe Tessitore.

Warner played 12 seasons in the NFL for the Rams, Giants and Cardinals and has been an analyst for the NFL Network since 2010. Last summer, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Former New York Jets and Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan and ex-NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck are also still under consideration for the role by ESPN.
