Jon Gruden: Colin Kaepernick Should Be Signed ‘Soon’
"I think there's a lot of intrigue there," the Oakland Raiders new coach said of the 30-year-old QB.

With failed NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel getting a chance to impress league scouts this week at College Station during Texas A&M’s pro day, some have started discussing whether Colin Kaepernick will get an opportunity to prove himself in the league once again.
On Tuesday at the NFL owners meetings, new Oakland Raiders coach Jon Gruden said he thinks Kaepernick will get his shot “soon.”
Gruden mentioned there’s still “a lot of intrigue there” about the 30-year-old quarterback, before going on to compare him with jobless quarterbacks Robert Griffin, Tim Tebow and Manziel.
“Back to Kaepernick, he got beat out by [Blaine] Gabbert to start the [2016] season,” Gruden said. “I think that says something. [But] I am surprised he’s not in camp with somebody. He probably will be soon.”
Gruden stopped short of saying Kaepernick would be given a shot in Raiders’ camp, as Oakland already has franchise quarterback Derek Carr and backups Connor Cook and Josh Johnson on the roster.
