Johnny Manziel Blames Browns for Not Realizing His Flaws
Quarterback bust blames team that drafted him for 'not doing their homework.'
Just when you thought it was possible that one of the biggest busts in NFL draft history might actually be turning his failed career around for real this time — here’s Johnny …
During a radio appearance on Wednesday, free agent quarterback Johnny Manziel blamed the Cleveland Browns for not realizing they were drafting a player who didn’t study when they selected him with a first-round pick in 2014.
“If Cleveland did any of their homework they would have known I wasn’t a guy who came in every day and watched film,” Manziel said on Wednesday, per Dan Patrick Show producer Andrew Perloff. “I wasn’t a guy who really knew the X’s and O’s of football.”
Manziel’s aptitude for watching film, or lack thereof, was probably one of the reasons the former Heisman Trophy winner completed just 57 percent of his passes and finished with only seven touchdowns – along with seven interceptions and seven fumbles – in 15 games over a two-year span.
If he wants another chance to play in the league, as he claims, Manziel should probably rethink his policy on film. Or at least in interviews.
