This Dog Lover App Lets You Swipe Right For Perfect Pet Match

This dog lover app is perfect for people searching for a new pet. Called GetPet, it is from Lithuania and helps pair you up with a local shelter dog.

“It is like Tinder, but with dogs,” Vaidas Gecevicius, one of app’s creators, told AP. “You can arrange a meeting with the dog — a date.”

Users can scroll through profiles of animals, which include descriptions of the dogs, but the Tinder comparison stops there. The pooches don’t actually swipe on your profile creating a match. They are, after all, only dogs.

A local shelter founded by Ilona Reklaityte is happy about the new app. “I really welcome this new app as it gives us more chances to find our pets new owners and a new home, and that means we can then help other dogs still on the streets,” Reklaityte said.

With the release of the app more and more folks are visiting the shelter which is good news for the pets.

“We have 140 dogs right now,” Reklaityte revealed. “Sometimes we give away one or two of them every day, but now we receive (many) more calls and people are coming more often.”
