Houston Rockets forward Danuel House Jr. is being investigated by the NBA for allegedly allowing a female COVID-19 testing official into his hotel room in the league’s bubble, sources told Yahoo Sports.
House, the Rockets’ sixth man, was a late scratch for Houston’s Game 3 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night due to what the team labeled as “personal reasons.”
Though the team could use him for Game 4 on Thursday, House may not be allowed to play and his status for the remainder of the Western Conference semifinals is in jeopardy while the NBA probes the potential violation of bubble protocol.
House, 27, has denied there was any violation at his room at Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort, the hotel where the Rockets are now the lone tenants.
If the league does find a violation, it is possible House will be forced to undergo a fresh quarantine period or be removed from the bubble entirely. “Opposing teams are closely monitoring how the league handles this situation,” according to Yahoo.
An above-average defender, House has averaged 11.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game during the playoffs and is a key two-way player for the Rockets.
