Vince McMahon is expected to announce imminently that he’s starting a professional football league, according to ESPN. The WWE impresario co-owned the XFL for its single season of existence back in 2001. McMahon’s company, Alpha Entertainment, has trademarked the name XFL, though there’s no other evidence that McMahon will use it for his new league. Alpha Entertainment communicated to media today that McMahon’s “major sports announcement” would come later Thursday afternoon.
