President Trump will attend Monday’s college football national championship game between Georgia and Alabama in Atlanta. The city’s mayor has promised a “safe, smooth and secure” event, but has asked residents to not leave guns at home, despite legality. The stadium will be secured by legions of undercover and uniformed officers and overhead air traffic, including drones, will be prohibited. There are no specific threats against the game, but special agent David LeValley, who runs the FBI’s Atlanta office, said they are actively assessing intelligence as it comes in. Kendrick Lamar, an outspoken Trump critic, will be playing a show at halftime at nearby Centennial Olympic Park. There is speculation that the rapper could fold some sort of demonstration into his performance. In a track from Lamar’s most recent album release, he references the Trump campaign’s alleged ties with Russia, saying, “Donald Trump is a chump, know how we feel, punk / Tell ‘em that God comin’ / And Russia need a replay button, y’all up to somethin.’” The critically acclaimed album has been nominated for Album of the Year at this month’s Grammy’s.
