Tim Tebow Takes Knee and Gets Engaged to Former Miss Universe Winner
The former Heisman winner popped the question on his family farm in Florida.
It wasn’t on the football field, but Tim Tebow just took a knee.
Around sunset on his family farm in Florida, the former Heisman winner got down on one knee, told his girlfriend, former Miss Universe winner Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, her loved her. Then, he asked her to marry him.
Unlike the NFL teams Tebow wanted to play for, she said yes.
Following the proposal, Tebow slipped a 7.25-carat solitaire ring on Nel-Peters’ finger. “This ring is internally flawless,” he said. “Just like you.”
To make the moment even more special, Tebow had flown Nel-Peters’ family and closest friends on hand from South Africa to witness the engagement. They, along with his parents, siblings and friends watched the proposal from a distance without Nel-Peters knowledge.
“I actually wasn’t really nervous,” Tebow told PEOPLE. “I was excited. I wanted everything to be perfect and to go smoothly. But I wasn’t nervous to actually ask her.”
Tebow said he’s looking forward to planning the wedding and that he can’t wait to marry his bride-to-be.
“I’m so excited for the wedding, and I can’t wait to spend forever with Tim,” Nel-Peters said.
