In the wake of 21st Century Fox’s $52.4 billion sale to Disney, Fox has secured a five-year contract to air Thursday Night Football, according to Variety. The Thursday nights broadcasts will not be part of the sale. Fox Broadcasting will air 11 games, while NFL Network will pick up the remaining seven. Fox will reportedly pay more than $650 million each year for Thursday Night Football. NBC and CBS, which had split 10 Thursday night games both of the last two seasons, put out statements announcing each network’s return to original programming on Thursday nights. The Thursday Night Football contract is a major victory for Fox as it searches for a foothold in the aftermath of the Disney sale.
