There is Little Love for the Eagles, and Their Fans, in Minnesota

It is hard to imagine a place outside the six New England states where the Patriots are warmly received, but that’s what is happening in frigid Minnesota. Thanks to Tom Brady’s familial connections in the state, and an icy relationship between Vikings and Eagles fans, Super Bowl LII has provided a place where New England is welcome, and Philadelphia is not. Tensions run high, and Vikings fan have been spotted wearing purple shirts with Patriots logos on them, saying “I’m a Vikings fan, Go Patriots!” Meanwhile, Eagles fans have been bellowing their signature chant throughout the Mall of America. The stereotype of Philly fans — beer bottle and snowball-throwing hooligans — is strong in Minnesota. But the Vikings fans have some hope — that the Patriots will beat the Eagles and secure their sixth Super Bowl win. But we’ll have to wait until Sunday to see if the underdogs will prevail in an unwelcome city.
