LeBron James, Steve Kerr, and Dwane Casey have all spoken out in support of gun control in the aftermath of the Parkland shooting, and Sports Illustrated’s Rohan Nadkarni ponders how such NBA figures can turn their words into action. As Nadkarni argues, given the void of leadership in Washington, political advocacy from people like LeBron, Kerr, Casey, or Gregg Popovich should not only be admired, but encouraged forth. Making public donations to gun control advocacy groups, naming the politicians at fault, and working closely with activists are all next steps Nadkarni recommends to the NBA’s most vocal leaders.
