Peter King Predicts the NFL Draft’s First 6 Picks
The top of the draft might not be as QB-heavy as some people think.
Instead of focusing on the entire draft or even the first round, SI’s Peter King instead decided to only devote his attention to predicting how the first six picks will fall next Thursday in Dallas.
Here’s his best guess:
No. 1: According to King, Cleveland general manager John Dorsey knows who he will be picking but isn’t saying. It’s tough to know which one, but the smart money says the Browns will be taking one of the top five quarterbacks with the first overall pick.
No. 2: The Giants have a serviceable quarterback on their roster, which means they are more likely to take Penn State running back Saquon Barkley or North Carolina State defensive end Bradley Chubb than one of the four quarterbacks that Cleveland passed on.
No. 3: If Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, or Josh Rosen are there, one of those three QBs will be the pick with Mayfield being the favorite.
No. 4: With their quarterback already drafted, Cleveland will take whoever remains out of Barkley and Chubb. There’s a chance they trade out if a ridiculous offer comes their way.
No. 5: The Broncos are unlikely to trade up and really like the skill set of offensive lineman Quenton Nelson, who should be available. They aren’t in the market for a quarterback.
No. 6: The Colts also aren’t interesting in drafting a quarterback, so they could be trading down with a team that is. If they use the pick themselves, Indianapolis could be targeting a play-making linebacker like Roquan Smith or Tremaine Edmunds.
