He’s taken on Sugar Shane Mosley, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Manny Pacquiao in the ring, but now Oscar De La Hoya is considering battling a new foe outside of it – President Donald Trump.

De La Hoya, who’s never been shy about taking jabs at the boxing fan-turned-president, said he’s seriously considering running for president in 2020.

“It’s real … that’s the beauty of our nation,” De La Hoya told reporters on Tuesday. “If Arnold [Schwarzenegger] can be governor, if Trump can be president, then why can’t a Mexican American who won an Olympic gold medal, who’s over 35 and a U.S. citizen run for president?”

De La Hoya, 45, would run as a Democrat, theoretically one with an honest golf game.

In 2016, De La Hoya accused Trump of cheating in a 2014 round of golf and questioned how a person who would the break rules in golf could run the country.

Trump denied the charge and accused De La Hoya of using the story to draw attention to a boxing match he was promoting at the time.
