This year’s NFL offseason is bound to get interesting. We could see as many as 11 teams change either their current or long-term quarterback. This number is assuming that there are no veteran retirements or teams like Kansas City trading up to grab a quarterback a year or two before anyone expected. This is rare, since during a typical offseason there are usually about seven teams that either replace their current passer or draft a player who they plan on having eventually take over for their long-term quarterback. Another rarity of this year is how many QB options there are. Kirk Cousins, Washington, becomes a free agent in 2018. This never really happens, and he has an infinite amount of options in front of him. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints and Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers, both become unrestricted free agents in 2018. They are going to be staying in their current locales this offseason, writes ESPN. Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs, is under contract for $17 million in 2018, and ESPN calls him a trade candidate. Meanwhile, Sam Bradford, Teddy Bridgewater and Case Keenum are all Minnesota Vikings and will all unrestricted free agents in 2018.
