Augusta National to Host Its First-ever Tournament for Women
In 2019, Augusta will host the final round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship.

Seven years after opening its doors to female members, Augusta National Golf Club will host a women’s tournament for the first time in its long history.
On the Saturday before the 2019 Masters tournament, Augusta National will host the final round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship.
The 72-person amateur women’s tournament will have 54 holes in all. After the first 36 of them are played at the Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, the top 30 remaining players will advance to the final round at Augusta.
“I met with our senior staff in October and said I thought this was the right time to do this,” said Augusta club chairman Fred Ridley. “I wanted to do this and do it here. I thought for us to have the greatest impact on women’s golf we needed to be committed to doing it here at Augusta National.”
The award for the event has not been determined, but the winner will not take home a green jacket.
It’s unclear if pimento cheese sandwiches will be served during the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship at this time.
