Pamela Anderson Stands Up for Julian Assange and Vladimir Putin

She sat down with The Daily Beast to discuss her mission to pardon Assange.

Pamela Anderson sat down with The Daily Beast to talk about her partnership with the National Limousine Association’s Ride Responsibility initiative, which aims to promote safety awareness in ride-hailing apps like Uber. But the conversation ranged far and wide outside of that initiative. The 51-year-old has taken on many causes, like animal rights and environmental protection, since the 1990s. The Baywatch star also wrote a letter to former President Barack Obama arguing for the legalization of marijuana, and has recently supported activists and whistleblowers around the world. Anderson, who has traded Hollywood for the South of France, has also befriended Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. She has reached out to Kayne West to try to get in Trump’s ear about pardoning Assange. She thinks that the way people talk about Assange is “frightening.” She has also visited the Kremlin several times and met with Putin. She said that Americans have many wrong ideas about Russia.

“People just think Russians are very scary and stoic but they can be very emotional, very engaged and wanting to do the right thing,” she said to The Daily Beast. “It’s annoying. America can be very annoying, how everything is so anti-Russia.”
