After social media posts hinting at a big, brave reveal from momager Kris Jenner, her daughter Kendall Jenner has finally come out— as the face of acne medicine Proactiv.

But many of the Kardashian clan’s followers found that social media stunt as a blemish on the family’s reputation.

The “earth shattering” announcement, The New York Post reports, originally came after Jenner’s mom, Kris, posted on her social media that her famous supermodel daughter had a big “personal” announcement to reveal.

“I’m so proud of my darling @KendallJenner for being so brave and vulnerable.” Jenner’s mom tweeted. “Seeing you share [your] most raw story in order to make a positive impact for so many people and help foster a positive dialogue is a testament to the incredible woman you’ve become,” she tweeted over the weekend.

When the Proactive ad was revealed, a backlash ensued.

“Kendall Jenner gets 3000 dollar facials wearing head to toe Balenciaga in between shoots for Vogue,” tweeted another. “I promise you she’s not using proactiv.”

Another Twitter follower called BS: “You’re joking me. This is the ‘big announcement’? This is a pathetic cry for attention.”

Prior to Kendall’s endorsement, the Proactiv brand has been backed by celebrities such as Mandy Moore, Jessica Simpson, and no-time Grammy award winner Katy Perry.
