Live from New York, it’s the Alabama senatorial race!
Saturday Night Live mined the allegations of sexual misconduct surrounding Republican Alabama Senate nominee for laughs days after the Washington Post reported that Moore allegedly became involved with a 14-year-old girl when he was a 32-year-old local prosecutor. (While the now 70-year-old Moore has denied that he was a pedophile, several other women also came forward of pursuing them during their teenage years, a time when he was at least twenty years their senior.)
The accusations have been anything but funny to most as political watchers as the Dec. 12 special election nears, but a cowboy hat-sporting Mikey Day and his fellow SNL cast-members managed to wrangle some humor out of the scandal on Saturday’s episode.
“I’m usually the creepiest one in the room, but I look at you, and I’m like ‘Oh my God,’” said Kate McKinnon’s Jeff Sessions. “They say you even admitted to being with a couple of 16-year-olds? . . . I’m Alabama but, you sir, are too Alabama.”
