President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania are in France this week to celebrate Bastille Day and the 100th anniversary of the United States’ entry into World War I. But it’s been footage of the president’s comments about Brigitte Macron, the first lady of France, that has dominated headlines.
“She’s in such good physical shape,” President Trump told President Macron, in front of both Melania and Brigitte. “Beautiful.”
Late night hosts, ranging from Stephen Colbert to the Daily Show’s Trevor Noah, took a swing at the comments, which have been deemed by many as inappropriate and sexist.
“Only Donald Trump would treat a meeting with a world leader like it’s a swingers’ key party or something,” Kimmel said.
Colbert made similar comments: “He treated her like any other woman: By objectifying her.”
