Alec Baldwin to Reprise Role as Trump on ‘SNL’ Next Season
Fifty-nine-year-old actor will bring impression back to show this fall.
Lately, President Trump has been tweeting a lot about fake news. But since Saturday Night Live‘s been off the air we haven’t heard much from him about fake Trump.
That is, Alec Baldwin, who has made a cottage industry out of lampooning the president with the most spot-on impression out there. Well, he apparently will serve a second term.
As Baldwin told CNN, he’ll be returning as Trump to SNL this fall. But it’s unclear how many episodes will feature his popular presidential impression. Baldwin mentioned his role would be “a couple celery sticks” versus a “whole meal” in a CNN segment.
Two months ago, the actor was spinning a different tale altogether, saying he was thinking about hanging up the impression for good citing the Trump administration’s “maliciousness.”
But it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Baldwin’s impression has been a career-changer for him—unlike Jimmy Fallon, whose career has taken a hit because of his perceived groveling to the president when he was still a candidate.
Baldwin has hosted SNL a record 17 times.
Below, watch one of Baldwin’s most popular SNL skits, where the actor impersonates both Trump and former Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly at the same time.
