You can imagine how many flannel shirts come across our desks here at InsdeHook HQ. United By Blue’s “Responsible Flannel” has been a go-to for us through multiple falls and winters. It’s perfect as a light outer layer on mild days, and it really shines as an insulating middle layer when the temps really plummet. The sizing feels right — it’s cut just slim enough to feel presentable, but it’s still roomy enough to comfortably layer over a henley or a T-shirt. The plaids are nice and understated, and there are some nice touches when it comes to styling: the way the direction of the plaid pattern is rotated 45 degrees on the cuffs and the two flap chest pockets.
Most importantly, it feels like it’ll last forever. The fabric, which is a blend of cotton and polyester, is pleasantly substantial and rugged feeling, but it’s still extremely soft to the touch.
Sizing is a little suspect right now (Christmas is in five days, you know), but there’s still plenty of good options.
