Norah Jones started her career on top.

For one, the jazz/pop/folk singer has got the right genes: She’s the daughter of the late Ravi Shankar, who introduced everyone who was everyone—including the Beatles—to Indian music, setting off a drone-y, Sitar-tinged trend in rock music that still lives on to today.

Also, the pianist/vocalist herself did the unimaginable in 2002, bringing a “jazz” album (and we use that term as loosely as possible), Come Away with Me, to No. 1 on the Billboard 200. She also subsequently scored a No. 1 single in “Don’t Know Why,” and took home five Grammys for the affair the following year.

This all before we’d really gotten a chance to know her.

Luckily, she had a lot more in store, releasing five additional albums of sublime music, and a sixth as a duets/collaboration with Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. She’s also leant her vocals to and tickled the ivories for a number of side-projects, collaborations with artists such as the Foo Fighters, Outkast, and Ryan Adams.

Her latest album, Day Breaks, dropped last October, but its first single’s video didn’t come out until just now. Here’s the new video for “Flipside.” Watch/listen below.
