“Am I dead? Or is this one of those dreams … those horrible dreams … that seem like they last forever?” intones Kesha in the spoken-word opening of her new single, “Praying,” which was released Thursday. (The album it will appear on, Rainbow, will drop Aug. 11.)

It’s the pop star’s first single in four years—the first since her largely failed legal struggles (and sexual assault allegations) against former producer and mentor Dr. Luke. (More on her court battle can be read at Rolling Stone.)

As Variety notes, the single and album are being released by Dr. Luke’s label, Kemosabe, nodding to the fact that Kesha still has financial obligations to her former producer. (So much for #FreeKesha, right?)
