How do we know when fall is upon us? Is it the first day a chill nips the air? When Starbucks starts tweeting about Pumpkin Spice Lattes? When the State Fair rolls around? Sure, some people rely on those markers, but we have a better way: wait until Flint and Tinder restocks their king of fall jackets, the Flannel-Lined Waxed Trucker Jacket. And that time is now.

We’ve written about the seasonal layer from Huckberry’s in-house brand many times before because it really is a new classic alongside pieces like Levi’s jean jacket and the Baracuta G9. What we’re dealing with here is a trusty, weather-resistant waxed exterior, but done up in intriguing sailcloth, paired with a sumptuous blanket lining (through the body and, crucially, the sleeves, which you won’t find in similar jackets).

The only potential hiccup is the price point of $240. Is it more than worth it in the long run? Of course, especially considering how much you paid for that Barbour (no need to apologize). But if you are reallocating some of your fall style budget this year, or maybe just aren’t ready to buy a flannel-lined layer when it’s still 90 degrees, there’s another option. The unlined version of the Waxed Trucker Jacket is on sale for $34 off, which puts it at the eminently buyable price of just $134.

Either way you play it, you’ll be glad to have either of these layers when the temps dip in earnest, especially because the best sizes will probably be sold out by then.
