You could say this luxury villa is creating waves. Designed by Spanish architecture firm A-Cero, the firm has created a tropical getaway with this modern concrete home in La Romana in the Dominican Republic. With the design inspired by the ocean, the home, sits on a beachfront property with more than four miles of coastline.
The Wave House, as A-Cero has dubbed it, is comprised of two wings—one for bedrooms; with the other for living, dining, and relaxing—that meet to form a covered-in veranda in the middle. Starting with the imposing entrance, the property is flush with dramatic curves of coralline stone sweeping up to the sky.
Inside the house, there are six bedrooms and six bathrooms, with an additional half-bath close to the kitchen. To accentuate the building’s spacious feel, the interior is decorated in a minimalist style with many of the futuristic pieces designed by A-Cero as well. Giving the home continuity, the coralline walls match the exterior.
The bright walls contrast well with earth-toned accenting objects, like a chair or rug, throughout the home. The vast windows, floor-to-ceiling in most cases, help bring the beautiful Caribbean outdoors inside, especially with the gardens fringing the stone home. Even with the floor-to-ceiling windows, the whole home has consistent cross ventilation so residents can always enjoy a sea breeze, even when they’re inside.
Furthering the outdoors-in concept is the Wave House’s ample indoor-outdoor spaces. (The house’s listing notes that the home can be opened up on just about any side.) Underneath the main overhang in the back, there’s a dug-in seating area that could serve well for hosting friends or family. Just before the water’s edge, you’ll find a swimming pool that’s sloped to give it a beach-shoreline-like feel. But don’t worry; potential owners can access the actual ocean from the pool, too.
Located on the Casa de Campo golf course, the home began construction in 2006 and was completed in 2009. Previous reports listed the Wave House at $15 million, but the current asking price is $10.7 million, according to Christie’s International Real Estate.
