In a big city like New York, L.A. or Chicago, $700 doesn’t get you all that much.

In Montana, however, it could get you an adorable A-Frame cabin, per evidence from one couple who poured as much into their tiny A-frame cabin project, which is outlined in great detail here.  At 80 square feet, you wouldn’t be wrong to call the structure a tiny home. But you have to ask yourself: if escaping to the woods, how much space do you really need?

The plans were bought online from Derek Diedricksen, and some of the materials were upcycled and sourced from the couple’s extended family. The solar panels were the biggest expense, but we imagine they pay off at night. All in: the project took 3 weeks of daily work. Not bad, considering.

Point is, when the biggest expense for a weekend getaway is the accommodations, a $700 tiny home is worth its weight in gold.
