Nike’s Latest Golf Shoe Takes Cues From a Classic Air Jordan

It's slated for release next month

The Air Jordan XII ‘Taxi’
Imagine this, but as a golf shoe.

While he’s best-known for his achievements as a basketball player, Michael Jordan’s interest in other sports is also notable. There’s his brief foray into professional baseball, of course, but the man is said to be a pretty accomplished golfer. Tales of his time on various golf courses have become the stuff of legend, which helps explain why Nike has made an interesting practice of transforming various Air Jordan models into shoes suited for your golf course of choice.

One such example is Nike’s forthcoming Air Jordan 1 Low G, but it’s not the only one. A new article at Robb Report has news of another Nike golf shoe slated for release later this year — the Air Jordan 12 Low Golf “Taxi.” It’s scheduled for release via Nike’s website on March 11, and it takes its cues from the Air Jordans that debuted for the 1996-97 NBA season.

A Sole Collector article has more details on what to expect from the golf shoes, including removable spikes and a change in the message printed on the back of the shoe — this reads “For the love of 18.”

As Robb Report’s article points out, the “Taxi” nickname stems from the sneaker’s black-and-white color combination. All told, this looks to be a stylish and subtle repurposing of an iconic shoe.
