On Monday night, Luka Doncic pumped in 42 points for the Mavericks, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Dallas from dropping Game 1 of their opening-round playoff series to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Doncic only scored 28 points (adding eight rebounds and seven assists) on Wednesday night and spent much of the second half watching from the bench due to foul trouble, but the Mavericks were able to take Game 2 from LA 127-114 on Wednesday night and even their Western Conference playoff series at a game apiece.

Limited to only nine minutes in the second half after picking up his fourth foul less than a minute into the third quarter, 21-year-old Doncic spent more time cheering on his teammates than he probably would have liked. But he certainly was happy when his team pushed the lead to 18 in the fourth quarter and held on for the win.

“I was frustrated for like 15 seconds,” Doncic said after the win. “Then I was focused on supporting my teammates. They did a great, great job. Being on the bench, it’s hard for me. I want to help my team, but we won the game. Maybe if I don’t pick up that foul, we don’t win the game.”

Elsewhere in The Association, Donovan Mitchell pumped in 30 points to pace Utah as the Jazz beat the Denver Nuggets 124-105 to even their first-round playoff series at a game apiece, Fred VanVleet and Norman Powell had 24 points apiece for Toronto as the Raptors defeated the Brooklyn Nets 104-99 to take a 2-0 lead in their series and Jayson Tatum scored 33 points to lead Boston over the 76ers 128-101 as the Celtics took a 2-0 series lead. Center Joel Embiid had 34 points in the loss for Philadelphia.

The NBA playoffs continue again today with another four-game slate.

In other positive news, the NBA announced there have been no confirmed coronavirus cases among players inside the bubble at Walt Disney World since results were last released on August 12.
