Playing at home against the San Francisco 49ers with the NFC West crown on the line, the Seahawks were inches away from victory.
But, as has happened in the past, Seattle had issues converting from close to the goal line and their bid to steal a win from the Niners fell short when tight end Jacob Hollister caught a pass underneath on fourth-and-goal but was knocked to the ground short of the end zone.

It was an exciting ending to a 26-21 game that decided the top seed in the NFC and gave San Francisco home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. As such, the 49ers will face the conference’s lowest remaining seed at home on Saturday, January 11.
“It’s a great feeling. It’s a great feeling to get the one seed, to be NFC West champions,” said San Francisco cornerback Richard Sherman. “That’s your goal coming into the year. That’s the first goal you have to accomplish so that you can get a home game in the playoffs. We’ve worked hard. It was a tough season, there were a lot of teams playing really well down the stretch. But I’m thankful. I’ve believed in our team, our team believes in each other and that’s what makes it special.”

With the loss, Seattle dropped all the way down to the fifth seed in the conference and will travel to Philadelphia to play the Eagles on wildcard weekend.
In the NFC’s other wildcard game, the New Orleans Saints will host the Minnesota Vikings.
In the AFC’s wildcard games, the Buffalo Bills will travel to Houston to take on the Texans while the Patriots will host the Tennessee Titans in New England.
