Domicile-obsessed New Yorkers rejoice: Friday marks the kickoff of NYC x DESIGN, the annual citywide celebration of all things, well, design. More than 200 events, talkin’ everything from handsome furniture to what goes into a damn good poster. Herewith, the five you should not be missing.

Dwell on Design BK Home Tour
Apartment envy, thy name is Brooklyn, from a duplex housed in a steel box atop a brick townhouse in Williamsburg to a three-story Gowanus crib featuring an Amazonian waterfall shower and the coolest fireplace we’ve come across.

BKLYN Designs
Those looking to trick out the home with eye-catching wares would do well to stop by Greenpoint’s Brooklyn Expo Center, taken over by a cabal of brands hawking hand-carved wood furniture, laser-cut lighting fixtures and wicked kitchen knives.

Flavor Paper Open Studio
What was once a BK Heights parking garage has now been converted into a factory churning out the most wackadoo wallpapers in the game, and the process is fascinating. Bonus: owner Jon Sherman’s gonzo top-floor condo, a must-see.

Frieze New York
Clear your walls — one of the world’s leading contemporary art fairs brings the work of more than 1,000 artists from almost 200 galleries worldwide to Randall’s Island. Tickets are cheap but limited, so get on it while you can.

How Posters Work
There’s a science behind iconic wall hangings, and the Cooper Hewitt Museum has more than 100 examples from their permanent collection to back that up — including work from legend Paul Rand, who currently has his own exhibition uptown.
