Rare ‘55 Roadster Is a ‘Vette of a Different Color: Copper

This pretty penny is going to command a pretty penny

Grass is green, violets are blue, roses are red and Corvettes are, too.

Except when they’re … copper?

A paintjob typically reserved for classic Astons Martins and Rolls Royces, this vintage ’55 Corvette Roadster was one of just 15 produced in this colorway, and one of just four said to remain in existence. It’s the 22nd make that rolled off the line that year, after which it lived a fruitful life abroad, in Spain.

Now meticulously restored and revamped to its original copper tone with a cream interior and cream fabric roof, the ‘55 will cross the block in February at RM Sotheby’s Rétromobile sale in Paris. Of note: the roadster only has two speeds, rather than eight, run by an OG torque converter.

Quirks aside, we dig it.
