The most frustrating thing about golf? It’s as expensive as it is difficult. And since those prices aren’t going down anytime soon, it makes sense to to invest in something that’ll give you more reliable feedback than your buddies snickering in the cart.
That’s where Garmin’s Approach C10 trackers come in. They’re essentially tiny sensors that latch on to your clubs’ grips and — once connected to a Garmin watch — catalogue data on your every stroke. Swing distance, location, angles … you name it. Garmin’s technology then collates and analyzes that data to give you real, objective, data-based feedback on which club you should be using in a given situation.
Say you need to carry a bunker 180 yards away. You’re thinking 7-iron. But Garmin knows that you’ve only hit a 7 that distance twice all year. And it was at altitude. With a stiff wind behind you. So you begrudgingly pull out the 6-iron and … you’re still in the bunker.
But at least you can’t blame the clubs this time.
Of course, there’s no guarantee the sensors will save your game, and admittedly they sound a bit like a Caddyshack Rodney Dangerfield toy. Still, at prices of $80 for three sensors or $300 for 14, you should at least consider it.
What’s that famous saying? Insanity is hitting a golf ball into a pond every single time and expecting a hole-in-one.
