Willie Nelson to Highlight Indigenous Cuisine at 2023 Luck Reunion

Since 2012, Willie Nelson has hosted a number of lucky guests at his Spicewood, Texas ranch for the Luck Reunion, a gathering of food, fun and, obviously, music. This year, for the 11th annual iteration of the celebration, Nelson is kicking off the long weekend of festivities with Luck Presents: Potluck 2023 – Three Sisters, a family-style dinner that will pay homage to the three main crops of Indigenous cuisine — maize, squash and climbing beans.

Chef Brian Light from Ronin Farm and Restaurant will host the event, while three esteemed Indigenous chefs will cook the meal — Crystal Wahpepah (Wahpepah’s Kitchen, Kickapoo Nation), Brit Reed (I-Collective, Choctaw Tribe) and Sewa Yuli (I-Collective, Yoeme Tribe). Chef Michel Nischan from Wholesome Wave will also offer some kitchen support.

Following the meal, Nelson will take the stage for a live performance, which will be quite intimate, as there are less than 300 seats available for the Potluck. Single seats are still available for $750 a head, but both full and half VIP tables are already sold out. However, there’s a waiting list if you want to try and snag a res for you and some of your closest friends.

Yes, the tickets cost a pretty penny, but funds from the dinner will go to the Luck Family Foundation. It supports a few great causes, including Farm Aid, The Texas Food and Wine Alliance, and Wholesome Wave. Plus, a chance to hang with Nelson and eat some incredible Indigenous food is reason enough to snag a ticket to the event.
