Considering the game has been around since the 19th century, it is relatively difficult to do something on a baseball diamond which has never been done before.
That said, we feel pretty confident in saying assistant coach Nick Flachofsky was able to do just that during the seventh inning stretch of a game between the Gastonia Grizzlies and Macon Bacon on July 3 in Georgia.
After a strikeout ended the top of the inning for the Grizzlies, Flachofsky came out towards home plate to let the umpiring crew he took exception with the call. As members of his team jogged onto the field and took their positions, Flachofsky let the crew have it.
And man, he got his money’s worth, kicking dirt, cussing, the whole nine. Then Flachofsky, in a somewhat unprecedented move, disrobed at home plate, removing his shirt.

As if that wasn’t odd enough, Flachofsky (who was identified by his brother online) doubled down on his wacky behavior by kicking off his shoes.
The Elias Sports Bureau hasn’t confirmed it, but we’re basically positive this is the first time in MLB history a strikeout has led to a striptease and then to a shoe removal.
Even if it isn’t, it’s much appreciated. Keep up the good work Flachofsky.
