Two days after the New Orleans Police Department issued an arrest warrant for him for slapping the backside of a Superdome security officer during LSU’s victory celebration in their locker room, the department confirmed Saturday (Jan. 18) that the warrant for Odell Beckham Jr. has been rescinded.

“The security officer in the incident involving Odell Beckham Jr. has decided to drop the charge,” the department’s public information office told NBC in an email. Because the officer decided to drop the charge, Beckham will not face any further legal action over the incident.

“Absent a complaining witness, this is not a case our office intends to pursue,” Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro said in a statement.

Beckham also caught some heat at LSU for handing out cash to players after the game, a violation of NCAA rules. “We were in contact with the NCAA and the SEC immediately upon learning of this situation in which some of our student-athletes may have been placed in a compromising position,” LSU said in a statement on Wednesday. “We are working with our student-athletes, the NCAA and the SEC in order to rectify the situation.”
