Every year, there are offseason moves that seem like they are going to have a huge impact on the NFL, either positive or negative. Other years, a move that seems pretty insignificant turns out to be a season-turner. This year, ESPN put together a list of all the overrated and underrated moves of the 2017 season. For example, the Rams hiring Sean McVay as head coach: a seriously underrated move. McVay was only 30-years-old when he was hired and the Rams did not look salvageable. No one, not even the Rams, saw a division title and either 11 or 12 wins. Or take the Vikings signing Case Keenum. Few thought this would be significant, or that by the time Teddy Bridgewater was ready to play, Kennum would be playing too well to take out. On the other hand, the Kansas City Chiefs’ 5-0 start was very overrated. They were averaging a league-leading 32.8 point per game, but then a 1-6 midseason stretch exposed some major issues, and the Chiefs stopped scaring other teams. Or look at Cam Newton’s shoulder surgery, which was also overrated. It took him a while to look right, but he is playing more than fine.
