The beleaguered team could lose more than 90 games. Yes, 90.

The Mets have endured a fair amount of misery, injuries and mistakes this season as the team continues their pace to losing more than 90 games. But Tuesday night’s performance was a whole different ball game. The Mets lost to the Washington Nationals 25-4, the most lopsided loss in the teams 57-year history, reports The New York Times.

Over the course of nine innings, seven Mets pitchers took the mound and all but two put up runs, including the veteran infielder Jose Reyes. The Mets gave up 26 hits, which is the second-highest total in team history.

“A tough loss,” Mets Manager Mickey Callaway said after the game, according to The Times. “It’s embarrassing. We gotta do better than that.”

The Mets have given up more runs in a game before, however, back, in 1985. In that game, they lost by a score of 26-7 to the Philadelphia Phillies on June 11 of that year.
