For the fourth season in a row, both the Bengals’ and Browns’ playoff hopes went up in smoke.

Now, thanks to a new petition which has been put in front of the Medical Board of Ohio, the state is going to decide if fans of both teams should have the right to dull the pain by doing some smoking of their own.

Along with 27 other petitions for qualifying conditions that deserve medical marijuana treatment, being a Bengals or Browns fan is now under consideration for warranting a prescription for state-sanctioned pot.

Other conditions that the board will consider during the petition window include anxiety, Asperger’s disorder, autism, chronic back pain, depression, insomnia, PTSD, Depression, severe social anxiety and traumatic brain injury.

“The bad news for any Browns and Bengals fans hoping to see medical marijuana get approved as a coping mechanism is that the board rarely approves anything, let alone something like being a football fan,” according to CBS Sports. “Last year, there were a total of 100 petitions put in front of the medical board, and none of them were added to the approved list.”

Over the past three years, the Bengals have averaged just five wins per season, while the Browns have been worse, averaging just 4.3 wins per season.

Cincinnati had the worst record in the league this season at 1-15. Cleveland, an early Super Bowl sleeper, went 6-10.

Both teams will have high draft picks and, depending on how the medical board rules, perhaps their fans will be too while they watch them pick.

The board will meet on February 12 to discuss the petitions.
