Roger Goodell won’t have to sit down for a charity-aided sitdown with known internet agitator Dave Portnoy following a failed background check for the Barstool Sports founder. Portnoy won the bid to watch a Monday Night Football game with the NFL commissioner, but given his past actions, the league has pulled out of the agreement.
Portnoy’s winning bid of $250,000 was to provide aid for COVID-19 relief as part of the NFL’s “Draft-A-Thon” program, but he’s been rejected due to several high-profile antics that the league apparently does not approve of. According to Sporting News, league spokesman Brian McCarthy said that Portnoy was rejected due to “trespassing at the league’s New York offices and a Super Bowl event, and posting a nude photo of Tom Brady’s two-year-old son.”
In his typical fashion, Portnoy jumped on Twitter to give one of his “emergency press conferences,” blasting the league and calling Goodell a coward:

Despite Portnoy’s claim that Goodell and the league proved they don’t care about charity with the rejection, the NFL announced that the $250,000 will still be spread among its partner non-profits. A “deserving frontline worker” will take Portnoy’s place to watch the MNF game with Goodell.
Portnoy and Barstool Sports are notable for their brash style that often cross the line into poorly-hidden misogyny, racism, and homophobia, all in the guise of speaking to the “common man.” Most recently, Portnoy was embroiled in a bitter and public negotiation with Call Her Daddy, one of the network’s most popular podcasts.
