The Times of London is taking heat for a recent headline calling Pegi Young, a singer and activist and wife of Neil Young, the “discarded wife” of the rock and roller she was married to for over 35 years.

Young is the latest woman to be woman to be removed from her own obituary which focuses mainly on her husband.

Jezebel notes: “The obituary goes on to mention Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young’s success, quote lyrics Young wrote about her, name drop famous male friends, and refer to the children she had with Young as ‘his children’ before mentioning anything about the five albums Pegi Young released or the school she founded. It also includes a breakdown of her husband’s affair with Daryl Hannah before any mention of Young’s life outside her marriage.”

When she was 55, Young released her debut album in 2007. Her most recent album, 2017’s Raw, featured music about her divorce from Neil Young.

Young also founded the Bridge School for kids with severe disabilities (her son suffers from cerebral palsy) and organized the annual fundraiser- one of the most respected benefit shows in pop music.
