Neither Tom Petty’s eldest daughter nor his second wife are backing down in a battle over the rights to the late rocker’s legacy.

Petty’s first daughter from his first wife Jane, Adria Petty was running down a dream of using her father’s name and likeness on a range of salad dressings and other supermarket offerings, à la Paul Newman’s line of products.

Petty’s widow Dana, however, did not want to allow Adria to do her father’s legacy like that and stepped in, according to Page Six.

In court documents, Dana’s legal team wrote: “Adria wanted to authorize Tom’s name and likeness to be used to promote products akin to Paul Newman, whose face adorns bottles of salad dressing and so on. But Tom would never have permitted such a thing, he never ‘sold out’ while he was alive and refused to do any such thing despite numerous opportunities. Dana is certain Tom’s fans would also find it a sad perversion of Tom’s legacy.”

This is just the latest example of what has become a complete breakdown between Dana, Adria and Petty’s other daughter Annakim following the 66-year-old’s death in 2017 from an accidental overdose.

Following Petty’s death, all three women were given equal management votes over his estate. Since then, the daughters have been attempting to wrest control of the estate from Dana and filed a motion a petition a few weeks ago in an attempt to get the rights to Petty’s valuable music catalog.
