A Fourth “Jackass” Movie Is Officially Happening

Thought they couldn't go any bigger? Think again.

While the DIY entertainers of the YouTube generation are already getting burnt out, the forefathers of the form are gearing up for a comeback.

This week, Paramount announced that a fourth Jackass movie is officially happening, as reported by Deadline. It’s not a vague promise of another party-boy-gyrating, porta-potty-launching epic, either — the studio already set a release date: March 5, 2021.

Does that mean the whole MTV crew will be getting back together over a decade after Jackass 3D? Will Johnny Knoxville once again play the pied piper to Steve-O, Bam Margera, Chris Pontius, Jason “Wee Man” Acuña and all the other scar-tissue-laden man-babies? The casting details, as well as the involvement of Jeff Tremaine and Spike Jonze (the other two creators apart from Knoxville), have unfortunately not yet been confirmed.

The one cast member who won’t be part of the reunion is Ryan Dunn, who died back in 2011 at the age of 34. But he’ll most likely be honored in some form. His longtime friend Margera even suggested calling the new movie Jackass 4: We’re Not Dunn Yet.

For its entire run, from MTV series to blockbuster film franchise, Jackass has always been about oneupmanship. The cast was never satisfied with being on the receiving end of a prank, so they’d give it back twice as hard. Just when we as viewers thought the stunts couldn’t get any more dangerous, they delivered. So how can they possibly go any bigger with this new movie, especially as it’s already taken an unimaginable toll on all involved?

“Through three movies to date, the franchise has racked up more than $335M worldwide,” writes Deadline. Hard to argue with that.
